John Schirger, M.D. is a heart failure cardiologist at Trinity Health System. Prior to working at Trinity, Dr. Schirger worked at the Mayo Clinic in advanced heart failure, heart transplant, heart pump therapy, heart failure, and general cardiology. He is originally from Minnesota and married with 3 daughters. In his free time Dr. Schirger likes to hike and run. He is a hockey fan and enjoys watching outdoor sports with his family.
When To Refer: 1. Unexplained shortness of breath a. ECHO determines diastolic dysfunction 2. Shortness of breath while undergoing chemotherapy 3. Swelling in the lower extremities 4. ECHO result with ejection fraction <50% 5. Pulmonary hypertension 6. History of Sarcoidosis and Amyloidosis 7. General cardiologic management such as high cholesterol
