Trinity Health System Employees Host First Craft, Vendor Fair Tomorrow

Steubenville, OH – May 5, 2023 — On Saturday, May 6, 2023, Trinity Health System’s Employee Life Group will host a Craft and Vendor Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Steubenville YMCA’s side parking lot. This event was previously scheduled for March 18, but was postponed because of weather conditions.

Jacqueline Guiddy, Infection Preventionist at Trinity Health System and member of the Employee Life Group, said this event is open to the public and emphasized that several of the vendors at the fair are Trinity Health System employees.

“We currently have 12 local vendors who are going to display items that they make or sell, such as wreaths, crafts, cups, pens, and decorations,” Guiddy said. “Our community knows us from the hospital, but this sale gives them the chance to connect with us in a different way, to see our passions and hobbies outside of the professional arena. I think they’ll be amazed at the talent on display.”

The Employee Life Group is a collective of Trinity Health System employees who plan events to increase employee engagement and participation in the organization.

“A couple of things that we have done recently as a team include Cookies with Santa, an Easter Egg Hunt, a Paint and Socialize event, and a Halloween Trunk or Treat for employees’ children and grandchildren,” Guiddy said. “We have other ideas that we’re developing, but mainly, we want to cultivate a positive and uplifting environment that not only supports the hospital’s mission, but makes our colleagues feel valued and important.”

In addition to the Craft and Vendor Fair, the day will feature a 50/50 raffle to support the Employee Life Team Fund and a basket raffle to benefit the Tony Teramana Cancer Center’s TEAR Fund, which helps to cover patients’ expenses while they’re undergoing treatment.

“The TEAR Fund has been a huge part of the care at the cancer center,” said Barb Steitz, LPN, Patient Navigator/Oncology Survey Coordinator, Teramana Cancer Center. “The money in this fund is 100 percent community donations.

“Through the generosity of our community we are able to help patients eliminate the barriers that may prevent them from receiving the treatment that they need. Examples of some things we are able to help with include emergency medications, late utility bills, emergency food bags, gas cards, copays, oral nutrition as ordered by the physician, among other things. Patients who need assistance may request an application.”

The Steubenville YMCA is located at 3151 Johnson Road in Steubenville.
