American Sentinel University to Award 20 Scholarships in Celebration of 2020’s “Year of the Nurse”

Twenty $2,000 Scholarships to Be Awarded to Nursing Students Throughout 2020

AURORA, Colo. – Feb. 26, 2020 – The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 2020 as the “Year of the Nurse and Midwife” in honor of the 200th birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. To celebrate, American Sentinel University announced today it will award twenty $2,000 “Year of the Nurse” scholarships to its nursing students.

Winners will be selected based on the candidate’s excellence in the following areas: Community Service, Personal Commitment to Education, Leadership Potential and Commitment to the Healthcare Profession.

“We understand how important nurses are to our communities, and we want to celebrate them as they are often our unsung heroes,” said Dr. Richard Oliver, Chief Executive Officer of American Sentinel University. “Our mission is to help our students enhance their professional and civic lives. We hope these scholarships will make a difference not only in the life of a nurse, but also in the lives of members of the communities in which they serve by teaching them new skills they can bring to their patients and facilities.”

Five “Year of the Nurse” scholarships will be awarded per quarter in 2020. The deadline for first quarter scholarship applications is March 15, 2020. The scholarship can be applied to any American Sentinel degree program including: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner specializations (MSN-FNP and MSN-AGNP), and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
