STEUBENVILLE, OH — Catholic Charities of Southeastern Ohio is partnering with Prime Time of Steubenville to serve daily meals and provide fellowship for area seniors beginning October 6.
The program will be held at Catholic Charities, 430 Slack Street, Steubenville, and is open to Jefferson County residents who are 60 years of age or older. In addition to a nutritious lunch, participants will enjoy the opportunity to share in community and companionship. Meals are provided free of charge, though donations are welcome, and no one is turned away due to income.
Catholic Charities will be open for Senior Adults from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, with meals being served at noon. Transportation may be scheduled 3 days per week for those who need assistance getting to the Catholic Charities location. Prior transportation reservations are required to use this service.
“This partnership is an exciting opportunity to serve our neighbors” said Leah Perdue, coordinator of Catholic Charities of Southeastern Ohio. “Not only will this program provide healthy meals, but it will also create a welcoming place where seniors can come together for fellowship and support. We are truly blessed to be able to walk with our community in this way.”
“Prime Time is happy to partner with Catholic Charities to provide a Congregate meal location for senior citizens in the south end of Steubenville,” said Trudy Wilson, Manager of Prime Time Senior Services. “We know there is a need for food in that area, and it’s a way that Prime Time and Catholic Charities can work together to provide healthy, nutritious lunches and a time of fellowship.”
Catholic Charities is seeking volunteers to assist with the program. Volunteers are welcome to commit to several days a week or just one day, depending on their schedules. Anyone interested in volunteering between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, is encouraged to call Catholic Charities at 740-314-8660.
Seniors wishing to participate in the daily meal program must contact the Prime Time office at 740-314-5197 to register for the meal program as well as transportation.
This new partnership offers not only a hot meal, but also the chance for seniors to gather, connect, and build friendships in a welcoming setting.
