The world-class Gastrointestinal (GI) Unit at Trinity Health System employs the best new technologies to give patients the highest quality care.
New technologies that Dr. Himanshu P. Desai’s team at Trinity Health System have recently employed include:
- PillCam that transmits pictures as it travels through the patient’s body
- VO2 test, to measure metabolic rate
- Hydrogen breath test, which measures gas levels in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) patients
- SmartPill, which travels through the body taking pressure measurements to detect disease
- FibroScan, is a noninvasive test to help determine treatment for fatty liver and Hepatitis C patients the only one in the region
- Endoscopic procedures (colonoscopy, endoscopy, etc.)
- EGD BRAVO for measuring acid
- Hemorrhoid banding
- Rectal Manometry for fecal incontinence and motility disorders
- Esophageal Manometry for swallowing disorders
At Trinity, Dr. Desai is creating new Patient Care Pathways focused on different disease states, including:
- motility and fecal incontinence
- heartburn
- Hepatitis C
- Healthier Me program
