Spiritual Nugget 5.13.19

This week we celebrate Hospital Week. Much more than a building, we celebrate the dedication and commitment of people who deeply care…people who see their work not as a job but as a special calling by our Almighty God.  As we begin this very sacred week, here is a personal psalm written by an anonymous person inspired by Psalm 23:

MY REAL BOSS Source Unknown

The Lord is my real boss and I shall not want.
He gives me peace, when chaos is all around me.
He gently reminds me to pray before I speak
And to do all things without murmuring and complaining.
He reminds me that He is my Source and not my job.
He restores my sanity daily and guides my decisions
That I might honor Him in everything I do.

Even though I face absurd amounts of e-mails, system crashes unrealistic deadlines,
budget cutbacks, gossiping co-workers, difficult supervisors and an aging body that
doesn’t cooperate every morning, I will not stop — for He is with me!¬†
His presence, His peace, and His power will see me through.
He raises me up, even when they fail to promote me.
He claims me as His own, even when humans had threatened to let me go.
His faithfulness and love are better than any bonus check.
His retirement plan beats every 401k or 403b there is!
When it’s all said and done, I’ll be working for Him a whole lot longer and for that, I bless His Name.¬†

PRAYER

Lord, I thank You for those who try to make others well
and care for those in suffering and pain.
Give them wisdom in caring.
For all they have done,
grant them the reward You promised
those attending the sick:
“Come, blessed of my Father,
here is the kingdom made ready for you.”

Amen.
