I’d like to send a WOW to Carrie who was working Registration Saturday morning 1/4/20 and the lab staff.  My doctor had faxed an order for blood work to the lab and they had a hard time finding it.  Carrie was very persistent and made many phone calls before finally tracking down the order.  She Probably spent over ½ hr with me.  She was very composed during the “hunt” as well.  Hats off to her and all the registration and lab people who kept looking.

Michael, Pastoral Care

WOWS ending 12/31/19

As I was escorting a patient to the Heart Center yesterday, She was telling me how much she loves Trinity Hospital.  She said her Doctor is a Weirton Doctor but told her she can come to Trinity for her testing.  She then told me that she was here  another time and a Construction worker was behind her and asked her if she knew where she was going or if he could help her.  She said he walked her to the registration area.    I’m impressed!!!!    I’m in the middle of it all in the Gill Lobby.  I see so much kindness within the wall of this hospital.  I could not wait to turn 62 yrs old so I could retire.  I use my husbands insurance.  I turned 62 a couple weeks ago and guess what…..I can’t leave.    My heart won’t let me.  I feel that I am right where I belong.

Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!~ Joy Spring

This am 12/13/19, I was in the CT Room on the first floor (ER)- I was tasked with the duty of dusting vents and tilting the machine to get all the disgusting stuff under the gantry cleaned. Christine (housekeeper) came in for her morning cleaning, without hesitation stepped in and helped me. I added a huge mess to her morning!! She went above and beyond, made sure she mopped under the gantry and wet a rag to get the groves and the foot pedals!I really appreciate her help!

Thanks  Michelle Champ

I received a voicemail from a Wayne, who wanted to let us know that when his mother was in 245 in November Courtney and Stephanie who worked night turn took such great care of his mom that he felt she was in good hands!  He wanted to give them KUDOS!!

While working in Outpatient today (Sunday) I registered an infusion patient, she was also here Saturday and throughout the week. Today was her last day of infusion and she brought the Outpatient Staff, any anyone else she said, a nut roll from her church to show her appreciation for EXCELLENT service!!  She wanted to show her appreciation for “the hardworking and caring staff that waited on her”…her EXACT words!! Pereta

Kasey Kowcheck,

Thank you for all you each and every day!I took a call from a very satisfied patient that you took care of in the office setting.  He said “Kodos to Kasey”.  He went on to describe the care you provided to him and how appreciative he is. Keep up the great work!  You are living the ministry.

A big WOW for ICU and Dr. Morisetty. I came in on Sept 23 and ended up in ICU on the 28th. Nurses in ICU were extremely good with patients. Nurses were great! Dr. Morisetti treated patient well. Treated her like a patient not a number on a chart. Dr.  Morisetti believed in the patient, and did not want her to go to hospice. 2 weeks ago she was discharged and able to speak. She wants to thank Trinity and the staff. Staff was great!!

We had an ER patient’s mother call today to express her gratitude for Chelsea, Andrew, Connie, Tim NA, Mary Jo and Joyce in the ER. Her young son was experiencing a mental health crisis and these employees made his life a little brighter because they were kind, caring, and compassionate.  She said they treated him like a person.  Thank you to all!

Hope-One of your patients called in to tell me about the great care you provided to her.  She said that you took care of her not only physically but also emotionally.  She said you are compassionate and professional.  Thank you for taking excellent care of our patients.  You are appreciated and you make a difference!  Colleen Merriman, B.S., CNMT, ARRT(N) Nuclear Medicine Supervisor

I received two really nice compliments this week about the Info Staff.   1. An employee was in the heart center waiting on a family member having a procedure, she told me that the Info Desk staff was wonderful, they made sure everyone had a card for the tracker board. They went around the room asking if anyone needed anything, they kept track of the family and if they came in late, the staff knew what information to give them. She told me several times what a great job you were doing.

  1. I received a really nice compliment for Lisa, this person told me how she is always moving waiting on people as they come in, escorting, sanitizing everything! This person said she never sits down, she does a great job and they wanted to tell me!

I’m very proud to work with you, everyone  truly cares about the families, the  patient and their needs. You make them feel comfortable, less anxious and keep them informed. You work as a team to make sure all bases are covered, and do it with a smile! If someone needs to tell me what a great job you’re doing, it means that your actions and behaviors have made an impact on their experience with us!

Keep up the good you do, it does make a difference!

I wanted to send out a thank you to Jimmy Light for his assistance on Thursday, November 7th, to Mrs. Anderson and the TSON students who were doing a clinical rotation in the Emergency Department.  I know he was just doing his job but wanted to let you know that people are seeing how great he is in that capacity, including myself.  There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for someone!  It’s always been a pleasure to work with him!

On Friday, 12/6, a lady came to the information desk asking for help to get her dad to hospice in the 7th floor.  Mark, our liason, was in ED training.   I was unable to get an answer from transport, I went in the hall thinking somebody might have a minute to spare.  I  finally popped into cardiac holding, asked for help, and as usual Elizabeth Sutton was the first to jump up and say I’ll help.  Between Liz and  Deb Sloane, we got the gentleman and all his medical equipment to hospice. Liz is always first to say I’ll help or I’ll do it.    She deserves a big wow everyday.

The Case Management Department recognizes Dr. R. Murty and his team for supporting the organization’s observation improvement initiative.

The appropriate and timely evaluation and treatment of chest pain observation patients is recognized and appreciated.

Thank you Dr. R. Murty and team!

WOW for Emergency Department Case Managers

The ED Case Managers are a group of behind the scene individuals who deserve recognition for their contributions to Trinity Health System. In addition to their duties as Utilization Management Coordinator (patient flow and status assignment), they spend hours and hours on the phone every day searching (Ohio and West Virginia) for an inpatient behavioral health facility to accept our ED patient. Once a facility is found and accepts the patient,  more time is spent (on the phone) to secure the health insurance admission approval and coordinate transportation.

When you hear the number of  “behavioral health holdovers” in the Emergency Department think of the countless hours the Emergency Department Case Manager has invested in each case, coordinating the safe and appropriate disposition of our most vulnerable customers.

THANK YOU EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT CASE MANAGERS!

I have a WOW for one of my staff. Janice and Carole Martin want to give a WOW to Ann Huff. Ann has been with Images/Trinity for 23 years. Janice said,  this was the first time her Mother Carole had her mammogram with Ann, as the staff member retired and is not at Images anymore. Janice and Carole think Ann is wonderful!. She said her Mother gets really nervous but felt so comfortable with Ann and it did not hurt! Thanks, Ann , your excellent patient care is valuable to Images , Trinity, and especially the patients Kristy Retton,R.T.(R)(M) Supervisor-Images

I just wanted to recognize Rob Tulenko  for going above and beyond, transport came in bragging how awesome he was because he seen transport on the elevator taking a patient to MRI who may have been a little unstable Rob noticed the signs and asked transport if they wanted him to follow them down . Rob followed the patient with the transport staff all the way to MRI. What a great nurse to care about a patient that wasn’t even his and for the transport department. Never change Rob!! Thanks for all you do! Shannon phsarce

Hi Kayla & Peretta, I happened to overhear the interaction yesterday (Saturday 10/19) with the patient that was upset about her experience with the registration process and Trinity Health System. I want you to know that you both did a great job of keeping your cool and you handled the situation professionally! Keep up the good work, I know how hard it can be sometimes!!Theresa J Clark MT (ASCP)

A BIG Thank You to Denise Carey, unit clerk on 6 tele, for always helping out and being a team player! She is always willing to stay over and go the extra mile to help her co-workers. Thanks Denise! -Nate Vanhorn

I wanted to pass along to you the praises that my staff shared about Theresa Clark. They were saying how prompt she is and is always willing to help them with any issues that they have. I wanted to share because I think she deserves a WOW. It is so nice to work with others that are team players. Thank you both for all you do. Thanks, Kim Davis, Pt Accounts Manager

I have to say that Matt  in CT deserves a huge giant wow . I was taking a pt to sono and worrying about the growing list of CT pt to go over again. I saw him bringing one back and asked who was next. He got all of them done already while I was doing all kinds of other things. I have to say he helps us a lot especially when it is super busy.  He is always great to work with but he really does go above and beyond for us, and on nights a lot of them that go to CT go to xray they “share” the pt and things get done a bit faster most times that way. but he is always out there doing all he can to help us all. and I feel like he is fantastic. Thanks Vanessa ER

Had a patients father call me this a.m. and tell what an amazing experience he had with Kayleigh Lancaster last night. He said she went “above and beyond” and said she gave “A+ care” and that “You could tell she really cares”. Just wanted to pass along a great patient experience!

I would like to thank Doug and Erica Heilman from ER for starting an IV on a patient who is a difficult stick. They were very busy in ER and took the time to come up to the infusion center and help!!We appreciate it!! Thanks again  Sharon Barbetta

I would like to give you a great big shout out to Grace Lauck.  She is always so helpful and pleasant with patients and families but this week with me not feeling the best she has been so great.  She keeps track of the waiting room and all the families and patients.  She does it with a smile and never acts as if she is put out .She has a welcoming smile for everyone and just has a way about her.    When a physician comes to talk to a family and I’m busy registering or just in general for me to walk around the desk and find a family slows up the physician, and we all know they are usually running to the next patient or case.  When I call for a family and they don’t answer, Grace and Deb jump up to look for the family to help the physician to assure the physician speaks to the family.  That is such a big help.  It’s is very important to patient satisfaction that they get to speak to the physician regarding their loved one.   Their help is greatly appreciated.  I can’t say enough about them.  Patti VanDyke

I would like to submit a WOW for Harry Heidbrink in the Nutritional Services department. On Friday, 10/11/19, the Healthtouch services went down for 30 minutes. Upon re-connection, a plethora of tickets printed and Harry went above and beyond to make sure that they were all completed in a timely manner for the patients to receive. Jen Riley, General Manager

Frank Cammer was at Kroger Friday, a lady approached him and asked if he worked at Trinity.  He responded yes, what can I do for you.  She wanted him to know what a great. Experience she had as a patient earlier in the week. The words she used were kind, compassionate, and professional throughout her entire visit. Thanks, Chuck Rine Operations Manager

I was called to a patients room yesterday-J.C.- he was in the infusion center. He wanted to pay compliment to the SDS and Infusion center staff. He stated that he has come here to trinity for the last 7 years weekly to receive infusions. He wanted to pay personal recognition to the staff from both areas. He stated “I have always received great care. The staff has great attitudes as there must be a box outside the door that they leave their problems in because I know we all have bad days but the staff has never shown that.  Thanks, Sheila Mirabella, RN, BSN

Cheryl-

I just wanted to commend Jimmy Light on always being here for us.  He has helped everyone here to feel safer when we have difficult patients.  He always calls back to check on us to be sure we do not need anything further.  Every time he has been here, he has helped sick patients get into or out of their car, wheeled patients in and out of the cancer center, loaded and unloaded wheelchairs, directed traffic, helped a patient who backed into another car as he was leaving, and hugged little old ladies, and the list goes on.  Our patients are very sick and they really appreciate the help that Jimmy has offered to them as he is a bright spot in their day and ours!

Barb Steitz

My dad was a patient on 3N.  He can be a stubborn man.  As the day went on 9/26 he grew more and more grumpy, bossy, and inpatient.   Maddy Kemp RN was his nurse.   She took all of his grumpiness in stride and went above and beyond to expedite things for him.  Dad called me this AM (day after discharge) and told me to go find her and apologize for giving her such a hard time.   Maddy kept her cool and got his discharge accomplished as fast as was in her power.

(Probably because he was being such a pain!)    Maddy is an asset to Trinity and I’m glad she works here.

Sincerely,

Dana Banal

I’m not sure who I should send this to but a HUGE thank you for the great lunch today! Everything was great and the food choices were on spot! Thanks J

Trinity employee:

“Shayla Creech deserves a WOW! She took such great care of me when I was a patient.”

While this employee was telling me this, another employee heard her and said “I second that! She took great care of me too”

Way to go Shayla J

A Trinity employee stopped me in hallway to tell me how wonderful Trinity was to her and her husband. Her husband had a “widow maker” cardiac blockage. He coded on her at home and she initiated CPR. Our ER was amazing, Brandon and Anthony in the Cath lab helped save his life, and the staff on the floors were amazing. Her husband is home and recovery!!  Never underestimate the magnitude of what each of you do everyday!

In two quarters of data around our collective and individual performance of Medical Records,  I would like to highlight the improved performance in the ED. Their error rate went from 29% to 2%!!!!! WOW. Great job, Doug, Amy and Staff!!

Thank you for all the effort and hard work!

More to come!!!

I appreciate all of you and what you did to make it a success. Wednesday was a bit sparse, but we had about 18 people on Thursday, most of whom had never seen a hospital lab, nor did they know of the education needed by the professionals who work here, nor had they heard of our program! Whether your part was large or small, it always takes many people to pull something like this off, and I wanted you to know your part was appreciated!
Thanks again,
Connie
