Congratulations to Dr. Zaev Suskin, Emergency Medicine Physician at Trinity Medical Center West, on the fascinating profile WTOV did on him earlier this week.
Here’s an excerpt from their report, along with a link to the full piece:
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — A doctor who has been working in Steubenville for almost a year and a half had a unique journey to the Ohio Valley.
Dr. Zaev Suskin is an emergency medicine physician at Trinity Medical Center West.
Born and raised in South Africa, Suskin’s generation of the family was the first to leave the country. He first lived in Atlanta and was inspired by photography at a young age.
“Got my first camera when I was 4 years old, a little Nikon 35 millimeter. I developed a dark room when I was 7, and started doing my dark room work,” he said. “Growing up as an immigrant family was tough and a lot of us had to work in addition — even while growing up. So, I started a photography company when I was 13 and sold it when I finished high school.”
Suskin took a summer job while attending Vanderbilt and started working for National Geographic doing underwater photography in South Africa.
