STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (WTRF) — It’s one of the most powerful ways a mother can bond with her baby.
For the mother, breastfeeding decreases blood pressure and the likelihood of breast cancer.
For the baby, it lowers the chance of colic and respiratory problems.
During World Breastfeeding Week, Trinity’s Birth Center wants new parents to know that no formula on the shelf will never beat what nature intended.
The hospital system offers quarterly breastfeeding and birthing classes for new moms.
Staff says that with the stress of a brand-new person to care for in the home, it isn’t always an easy process.
But babies will eventually pick it up, and Trinity is there to accommodate the lives of the new generation of motherhood.
“There’s a lot of pumping that they do, not necessarily like putting the baby to breast. So we’re very supportive of trying to make sure you have a good breast pump, making sure that you have everything you need.” — Kimberly Posten-Carlile, Clinical Nurse Manager, Trinity Health System Birth Center
